Happy Foodie Friday! This week we’re heading to The Tyger in Little Italy, New York. @thetygernyc . While taking a stroll through the neighborhood we stumbled upon this is a certified gem. You can’t miss it as the restaurant as its located on the corner of Hester and Centre Street with outdoor booths, or indoor.
.
Upon entering depending on the time, you arrive make sure you have reservations. I came just in time to be seated right away. As the establishment quickly filled with patrons. We decided to eat indoors but on the outside part, which is an outdoor space covered by an extended roof from the restaurant which can be opened.
The decor is modern with a cultural vibe, as warm colors of beige, tan and browns filled the room. From the wooden tables and rattan chairs the hints of greenery throughout provide and additional touch of calm and relaxation.
.
The Southeast Asian Inspired Cuisine menu is intense... give yourself some time to review it or ask the server for suggestions. Too see the world drink is something I’ve never experienced before. This drink included Tanduay Dark Rum, Black Tea Chi Masala, Cold Brew Liqueur chocolate powder around the rim of the glass with coconut and lime. This is a smooth cold brew with liqueur and with tea you can’t beat.
The settle kick of caffeine with liquor is remarkably good. I didn’t want to stop drinking this beverage. Make sure you sip with caution and slow to get every ounce of the impactful flavor.
.
Now I got two appetizers by mistake but it was a good one. I didn’t order the Phnom Penh fried chicken but OMG it was incredible!!! The fried chicken is crispy yet moist but cut into strips with arugula and peppers on top.
The lime and white pepper dressing it sweet yet tangly with spice which brings the dish together. You might want to ask for the sauce to go. Also, I don’t know if you’ll want to share this dish it’s too good to give anyone but yourself.
The appetizer I originally ordered was the Baby Gem Salad, the fresh herbs, fried Shallots and Smoky Ponzu was refreshing. The twist with the Black pepper dressing… wow it was a sweet ginger spice dressing at the bottom of the dish. Leaving you to mix the herbs together your way to get the full experience.
Now I don’t know if y’all are ready but this entrée one of my top favorites at the moment. I’m already saying this now Get this ASAP !!
The Singaporean Chili Crab Fried Rice ….Bruhh this is no joke! The amount of crab in the rice is unreal. This is also a spicy one, you’ve been warned. The chili is light but hits the back of your tongue within minutes. The blend of peas, crab and rice is addicting you can’t stop eating. The crab is blended so effortlessly you’ll taste it with every bite.
From the service to the ambience and overall experience I highly recommend to check this eatery out ASAP. @ thetygernyc
