Happy Foodie Friday! This week we checked out Sweet Science in Brooklyn, NY. @sweetsciencebkl This black owned restaurant/ bar is by far one of my favorites, this neighborhood gem in East Williamsburg is comfort food at its finest with a unique and mouthwatering menu.
.
The décor is dark with accent colors of blues, oranges and art work of the Kings of Hip Hop including Biggie Smalls, LL Cool J, and Kendrick Lamar to name a few. Brick walls are exposed as well giving the NY touch. The large ceiling to floor windows bring light into the restaurant. The music also sent the tone as I had my phone on the Shazam app collecting songs the entire time.
.
Upon entering the double set of doors, hand sanitizer and a temperature check are required. Along with signing a book with your name, number, and address for contract tracing. You’ll have the option of sitting outside in front or the side of the restaurant. I sat inside this time, and enjoyed the view.
.
Let’s get into the food shall we! To drink I had the Mango Rita (not frozen) which was sweet and tangy, you’ll feel the tequila in this one. I skipped the appetizer and went straight for the meal… I was starving.. Warning if you get this dish, make sure you have time to fully enjoy the meal.
I got the Hey Baby Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, ohhh this was too good to be true. Y’all already know I love Mike’s Hot Honey so I couldn’t say not. The Hey Baby Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich is Chicken on a homemade biscuit drizzled with hot honey. My mouth is watering as I write this.
.
The biscuit was thick and crispy on the edges yet soft with every bite. The chicken glazed in hot honey was soft and hot. Let this cool down a bit before eating as it was Hot just as stated in the name on the menu. It took a good 20 minutes to finish this sandwich and worth every minute as you want to take your time and savor it all. I also had a side of the House Cajun Fries, the fries are seasoned to perfection and gives the Southern feel with the Spicy Mayo Sauce. The menu is filled with options for everyone not matter what kind of comfort food your in the mood for.
.
Not sure if the Speakeasy is open yet… oh did I forget to mention that .. lol The Featherweight is the Speakeasy located on the left side of the restaurant if you enter through the main entrance of the establishment. After entering the first door then walk pass a small hall and up some stairs, you’ll be transported into rugged yet 1960’s aesthetics bar with stool chairs and plush booths for a group of friends.
.
If you check out @sweetsciencebkl let me know what you get.
