Happy Foodie Friday!! This week we’re diving deep into the sea to experience a restaurant that makes you forget you were ever on land. Lamia’s Fish Market is located in the LES (Lower East Side) of Manhattan, by first glance you might believe it’s an ordinary eatery until you step inside.
.
Upon entering your eyes will begin to wonder to embrace every detail of this undersea gem.
Make reservations … I can’t say this enough unless you get there early. It was the first thing I was asked after being greeted from the staff. Every element of the sea from the fish net covered blue globe lights on the ceiling to the submarine bar you’ll feel immersed in an elite aquarium. Each section of the décor changes as if you’re traveling through the sea. The first section adjacent to the submarine bar the tables are illuminated by a stream of lights showcasing maps.. possible pirate maps to find hidden treasure. Real flowers on each table give a refreshing and calming feel.
.
The room I dinned in was inviting and a true deep-sea paradise. Plush to the T. As a curved velvet couch in greenish-blue shades sits against the wall. The accent gray marble round tables and light blueish-grey chairs continue to set the mood. The brick wall painted with a mural of a mermaid dazzling with gems to resemble water flowing through her hair.
.
The food is a true taste of the sea with a unique dishes from the sea, land, and even vegan options. To quench my thirst indulged in the Mermaid Sangria let’s talk about how smooth and refreshing this drink is. The berry mix of blue berries and mint marry together well, so much I had this drink TWICE.
For appetizer the options are intense, but I choose the Fried Calamari. Now I usually only order this at an Italian restaurant but …. I’m thankful I had it here. The way they’ve seasoned the squid WOW. The coating was buttery yet zest taste adds the lemon and the sauce… I can taste how good it was now.
.
Now the entrée the main course I had the Blackened Shrimp now this may look like it won’t fill you up but it will. The SHRIMP!! I could hug the chief the seasoning on the shrimp was top notch. The combination with the spinach sautéed underneath and Béchamel Sauce … was immaculate. I was literally eating the sauce after.
.
I can’t wait to go back, from the service, ambiance, and food … it’s a certified gem!
