We’re finally back at it!
Get your chop sticks ready!!!! This time we’re checking out Han Dynasty a Sichuan restaurant located in Dekalb Market apart of the City Point building in Downtown Brooklyn, NY. Dekalb Market Hall is a food hall with cuisine from the Caribbean, Italy, Mediterranean, Thai, Hawaiian, and more.
A total of 30 different eateries to choose from as your tastebuds begin to water at the selection. This isn’t the only location as Han Dynasty has locations in NYC, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
The exterior of the space has vibrant art work on top of deep blue background alined with large red doors to enter. You won’t miss the sign light up against the wall. In addition to neon light around the corner for the take out option. The ambiance is contemporary with art of koi fish, custom murals and exposed light bulbs above providing an industrial charm.
When seated you’ll have a set of red chopsticks, a plate, and a cup for tea. If you ask I’m sure they’ll have a fork or spoon but I always suggest trying to eat with the chopsticks first.
The tea is presented to you in a cast iron tea pot. Which has a bit of weight to it so brace yourself when pouring. The tea is hot yet soothing. I would say it was a green tea.
For the entree I had the Pickled Chili Style with Shrimp. This meal is infused with favor for savoring bite each time. Yet it is spicy and sour for someone who loves heat it was a match made in heaven. The dish can be ordered with Shrimp, Fish or Fried Tofu.
It comes with a side of white rice which can be replenished if needed.. I sure did. The spices are prevalent with chili flakes, pickled chili mixed with bamboo, garlic and green peas. The marination of the chili sauce is impeccable. Not only did the pickled chili hit but the SHRIMP … which are JUMBO SIZED. Approximately eight or more shrimp was infused in the dish. In addition if you’re not sharing this dish take it home… I did and it was incredible the next day.
They also have a Check out Han Dynasty in the Dekalb Market Hall. Fun fact! They also offer Han Testing- which is taste testing of a 15 course meal for $64.44
