Happy Foodie Friday! This week we head to Dunns River Lounge & Restaurant in Rockville Centre, NY. The Caribbean Lounge and Restaurant is a gem with authentic Caribbean dishes and vibes.
Since Covid-19 the restaurant has been operating with pick up orders and only outdoor dining in the warmer months. I placed my order online on the new site and picked up my order. Delivery is available through third party services as well.

Dunns River Lounge and Restaurant is known for great food, music, and service where they treat you like family. From the Rum punch to the Henny Sorrel to the Jerk Chicken, Shrimp and Mac, Braised Oxtail and Vegan Entrées the options are endless. The menu ranges from Lunch specials, Dinner Specials, and Brunch menu on Sunday mornings.

Upon entering the establishment, you must wear a mask. You get the Island vibes with Caribbean music playing and a warm welcome from the staff. If you called in your order or placed it on the Dunns River site to pick up. This was my first time ordering on the new site and the site was an ease to navigate and select your options.

This was the first time I ordered on a Friday that I just learned about the Friday Special- Meal. I believe each day has curated specials except Monday when they’re closed.
For an appetizer I had my favorite the Callaloo & Salt Fish with Green Plantains. I’ve had this appetizer several times and it’s my favorite by far. The pairing is a classic any never fails if you enjoy salt fish or fish in general give this appetizer a try.

For the entrée I got the Jerk Salmon with Mango Salsa which included rice n peas, vegetables, plantains, and Scotch Bonnet peppers on the side. I got extra gravy but the Scotch Bonnet Peppers are extra if you decide to get it. Jerk Salmon was seasoned to perfection yet sweet with Mango salsa. Warning if you add the Scotch Bonnet pepper get your water ready as it took the dish to another level of extreme heat… it’s hot one for sure. The rice n peas and vegetables compliment the dish with the plantains. I could barely finish it but benefit for lunch for the next day.

I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying the Henny Sorrel which is a hit along with the Rum Punch, which both can be ordered to go. They also specialize in catering as well.
