Cold Spring Depot

Updated: Feb 25, 2022

Happy Foodie Friday!! Wow it’s been a minute and I appreciate everyone’s patience and support. It’s time to get into some good eats … I hope y’all are ready. Today we’re checking out Cold Spring Depot in Cold Spring, NY. After hiking I was prepared for a good meal even after eating lunch, I was starving. The licensed hiking guide Portia mentioned checking out @coldspring_depot and I’m glad we did.

.

This American style restaurant is located on Depot Square. No reservations are required or accepted. First come first serve is the mantra here. The line wasn’t too bad and moved quickly as seating is available outside and inside of the eatery. We decided to eat inside and you get a special treat if you eat outside. A glimpse of the Metro North Train as the tracks are literally behind the restaurant.

.

The décor is a classic yet modern with black accents of a fire place and bookshelf that provided a cozy vibe. The space was illuminated with barn style light fixtures that hang from wall, chesterfield seating and large mirrors added the touch to you have sit comfortably for hours.

.

Here comes the eats!!! The menu does have seasonal items so depending on the season you go you might be experiencing a seasonal item. In this case we had the Spiked Hot Cider with Whiskey … ohhhh this was good you also have the option to have the Spiked Hot Cider with rum. The whiskey was smooth addition to the Hot Cider along with the hit of cinnamon. It was truly a drink for the fall that will provide the heat to your body instantly.

For an appetizer we enjoyed the best Truffle Fries to date.

I’m so serious… the fact that we ordered them twice says it all. On top of that we didn’t have to use the condiments… The fries come with ketchup and aioli. The truffle fries were fresh, crisp with the perfect about of truffle oil and herbs. They melt in your mouth; don’t say I didn’t warn you.

.

Now let’s get to the entrée.. the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich … this sandwich consisted of a buttermilk chicken thigh, gochujang sauce, iceberg lettuce, pickled green tomato, bean sprout slaw and a side of fries. This sandwich is packed and by the third bite my mouth was on fire… from the gochujang sauce. It kicks in unexpectedly, very sneaky so don’t be fooled by the fire emoji next to it on the menu. It’s hot. The entire sandwich is flavorful the chicken has a light crispy texture which blended with the lettuce and tomato.

It tastes even better with the aioli sauce from the truffle fries. If you head upstate to Cold Spring check out @coldspring_depot. BIG shoutout to our server Anthony he was amazing ask for him when you go.
