Happy Friday!! This week were heading to Soco - Southern Fused Cusine in Brooklyn,NY. This restaurant is by far one of my favorites for classic southern food with a twist. If you’ve enjoyed classic southern dishes this is the place to enjoy it in NY.
.
The outdoor seating is in front of the restaurant for groups of two along with larger tables and partitioners for 4 or more people. Soco isn’t just the restaurant as next door is the lounge which is called Soco Lounge along with the space next door to the lounge called Soco To Go.
.
We waited for our table in the Soco Sky Deck which is an outdoor space in the back of Soco Lounge. The Soco Sky Deck is an open concept with custom artwork painted on the fence all throughout the space by @artistcjg89. Definitely photo worthy at every turn the artwork is a turn as the mural is a testament to Brooklyn. Not to mention the benches and TVs spaced out throughout the space is great to relax and unwind. We enjoyed the Henny Coladas which were intense. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. - Not sure if that drink was only for the Soco Sky Deck.
.
Let’s get into the food shall we?
This time for drinks I tried the Hibiscus Agave Margarita .. LET ME TELL YOU. I’m not big on tequila but this is good especially with the mix of Spice Rum the drink hits differently.
.
For an appetizer I had the Creole Gumbo which is presented to you in a cast iron pan- it is hot so be careful. The Creole Gumbo is spicy and comes with shrimp, seasonal veggies, pork, and rice. I would suggest sharing this if you plan on getting an entree. Of course depending how hungry you are this is just enough for one. This dish might but you in a food coma in the best way.
.
For the entree the Jambalaya is already mouthwatering just to look at then when you taste it.... there is no going back. The spices are just the tip of the this masterpiece. Where do you start... the shrimp, then hit the dirty rice and don't stop. The mix of dirty rice with shrimp, pork, and chicken breast is just delicious. If you've never experienced Soul food look no further than here. Each dish has soul and passion crafted into it. I've never finished it in on seating. This dish is certified vibes and perfect for the left overs the next day.
.
Soco is filled with a unique mix of dishes to offer and if you ever go for brunch and you are a lover of sweet potatoes try their Sweet potato pancakes - they come with blueberries on top.. so yummy.
.
In door dining is back ! Check out @socobk and enjoy the southern dishes on a different vibe.
